....and I can't remember who sent this to me but I am forever grateful. Ms. Lumina sent it to me. Giiiiirl, I will love you forever! How simple is this? I played around with a few locs just to see how it would take and it worked perfectly. This is 10x better than palm rolling. My only concern is the pattern of my locs. Will I have locs that look funny because half of the loc is palm rolled and the other half is interlocked or latched? Hmmm.....
Boy, I tell you. There is SO much loc knowledge on YouTube. It's amazing.

Lawd, I dun found another vid from the gorgeous Ms. Butterfli
When she said "I tend to latch more when it's warmer because I sweat more," I knew that latching was for me. I sweat ALL the time. Makes me wonder why I didn't interlock in the first place. I just made my own latching tool. More details about that coming soon.

I found yet ANOTHER video. This "loc latching" thing has taken up a great deal of my day but I'm not complaining because the things I am learning are exciting me to no end. The question I had about going from palm rolling to interlocking was answered in this video.
I really think I'm going to start latching from now on. I just have to figure out how many rotations I am going to do. Latching just makes sense! Especially with my working out everyday and dealing with slipping palm-rolled locs.

I watched the first video earlier this year and started latching. I had been palm rolling since Sept. of 08. I haven't had any problems and my locs have a uniform look.
thank you thank you thank you! my days. palm rolling just comes undone! this is genius!
You're welcome! The only thing to watch out for is latching too often, because you will get thinning roots. Otherwise, enjoy!
I sent you the video. You're very welcome!
i have braidlocs & i use both the nappyloc tool & the fingerlatch methods. i fingerlatch my locs in the back becz they're slightly larger. if there's more room after i fingerlatch i then resort to my tool to seal it summore. i luv it!!
Finger-latching is great!
Hello I am a new member of the ALL NATURAL CLUB & I have a question. If I start to interlock will I be able to stop when i need to and palm roll? Because to have my hair interlocked is $350 to start and $120 to maintain.
Hey Tanya!! Welcome to the club, sis. According to the videos that I watched, I think that interlocking and palm rolling are interchangeable. I have a few locs that are latched at the root but I palm roll them as well. I am almost POSITIVE that it can work the other way around. But because I'm learning, like you, I'd ask your loctician. You have to do what works for you, your hair and your budget. :)
Ok...is it suggested that latching be done at a certain stage of locing? With my locs still being in the baby phase, I think I'd still have the palm roll the bottom half of my locs after washing if I latched the roots. This seems like it would be more work...thoughts?
I latched before my locs were mature, but I used finger latching so that I would always have a little room at the base (avoiding a too-tight latch, without having to palm roll the hair nearest the scalp)...Hope that made sense!
