My nappy hair has ruined my social life...

This video popped up in my RSS feeder via Black Girl with Long Hair. I seriously thought it was a joke.

You mean to tell me this sister's childhood was ruined because of her hair? What a bunch of bull. And I won't even get started on this "Natural organic hair system". How vague is that? You would think the brand would give a little more information about the products. I smell a rat.

What do y'all think?

Somethings up w these people...I don't believe it! It tells nothing about the product and how "their life changed dramatically after using it" lol

Reminds me of the Rio infomercials from when I was a kid...

Infomercials later pulled because Rio was turning hair green and making hair fall out.

on the video:
I can KINDA believe her. It's hard being a teenage girl. We focus in on different things about ourselves and it's hard to let go of what we feel are imperfections.

Mine was my skin. I have acne. It sucked horribly. I rarely took pictures. It didn't "ruin" me, but it did impact me.

It's taken me a long time to be okay with me...As a matter of fact, I still struggle and I'm 28 years old. I read the anthology "Naked" a few years back. A quote that ALWAYS stuck with me was from a chick with long, beautiful locs and chocolately skin, who said "Nothing is as valuable to a woman than a beauty that everyone agrees on" (paraphrased). We are judged every moment, often with more rigid standards, than anyone in society.

It's hard being a woman, man. Especially when you don't fit the "standard." We all have to come into our own at our own pace.

PS I commercial did lay it on a bit thick though. LOL...but hey, that's what commercials are SUPPOSED to do.

Love!

It ruined her childhood because no one gave her the tools to brush off those wack ass haters.

It ruined her childhood because she already had self-esteem issues. What a crock and then she's like, "I'm Natural!!!!"
I won't say what I want to say.

They are pretty good actors!! I guess they feel better that they can shake there heads to death. I can shake my locks so there. lol!

There is nothing natural that's going to make natural hair straight. I don't believe it!

Just like Glo said another "Rio product"

How sad to only be happy with straight hair :(

Is she for real? I think she sounds like an moron. I couldn't even watch the whole video.

This whole commercial is just another sad testament to our continued self loathing I wish we could just realize that straight hair is not the key to beauty and happiness. And since they give no info on the product I'm highly suspicious.

This almost reminds me of body dysmorphia: some people insist that getting that nose job, boob job, face lift, etc. will "cure" them of all of their problems and insecurities, and then it is revealed that it isn't the need for plastic surgery that's the problem, but what's inside their soul. Natural hair or not, your hair should absolutely have no bearing on who you are as a person. Not saying that we can't have insecurities for how we look, that's human, but to act like the physical is the sole cause of it (esp. when it comes to hair) is just silly. I don't mind so much that the majority of black women love the "creamy crack" and that they want to hide their nappy roots, but to have a self-loathing, hateful nature about it is a whole other issue that is not only wrong, but awfully, terribly sad.

who are her friends? Anglo Saxons? It's obvious she's hanging out with the wrong people if she's not fitting in because of her hair!!! SMH!! LOOK LIKE WE'VE LOST ANOTHER ONE!!
