Update on the combined locs
It's been a minute since I've dropped an update on the locs that I've combined. If you're new to Loc Rocker, a few moons ago I decided that I wanted thicker locs. I did this while my locs were still in their fuzzy infancy. I simply 2-strand twisted two locs together and secured them with rubberbands. I eventually removed the rubberbands because they were just so unsightly.
I ain't even gonna lie. It was such a process. I had serious issues with my locs and I didn't like them. But eventually, the combined locs began to marry. If you ever find yourself in a situation where you want to thicken your locs via combining, brace yourself. It's a tough journey.
In my case, I doubled the size of 95% of my locs. Going from close to 200 locs to close to 100 locs. And as I look around my head, there are still a few that I want to combine. Like these 2 for example...
I combined these last week. I picked out the bottom of both of these locs by using a toothpick. At the base, I created a slit with my finger at the root of one of the locs and slide the other loc down.
And then I twisted allllll the way down. Crazy how they already look like one loc, uh? And as for the former combined locs? They've all married beautifully. I mean, it's amazing what the hair will do when you aren't obsessing over it. Every single one of these locs were combined but you can't even tell.
As for my double headed dragons, eventually I'll chop them off. I only have a few. I've been picking out locs, revealing loose hair and twisting them from that. And as for my 3 headed dragons?
I threaded some black thread through the loc. Because my hair is slightly darker, it isn't AS noticeable so that works. I am in love with the thicker locs. They feel like a whole new site of locs. And now my paranoia of the disappearing hairline will cease.
Any loc combining sistas out there? How is the process going for y'all?
