My farewell letter to castile soap
Dear Castile Soap,
I am writing this letter to you on behalf of my locs. They are requesting a civil break-up. I know, I know...this isn't easy for me either. For many months, you've been SO good to my locs. And I thank you for that. I thank you for the thorough cleansing you gave my scalp when I had build-up that just wouldn't go away. You were there when I needed you on vacations. You've ALWAYS been there for my locs.
But lately, my locs ain't feeling the love. And here's why...
The locs don't feel the umph that is needed after a good wash. Sure, you cleanse but the more mature the locs become, the more stripping you seem to do. And let's face it, with as many times the locs have been colored, the last thing they need is a cleanser that makes them feel crunchy. In fact, over the past few months, the locs have been requesting the beloved Peter Lamas Purifying Shampoo over you. I know, I know...I didn't want to be the one to tell you but it's true.
You're just not doing the job anymore. But please don't think it's the end of our relationship. I will still use you to bathe with, clean my kitchen and bathroom with. And of course you will always be one of my favorite face cleansers.
So yeah, don't take it personal. The locs have become some kind of picky and well, you're just not cutting it anymore.
Always and Forever,

LOL B you're so cute! I have taken a break from Dr. Bronner's as well...nowadays I just use Suave because it's cheaper and doesn't give that stripped feeling. I will still use it from time to time, but just not as much as I used to.
I love the farewell, fabulous!! I'm currently using Carol's Daughter Rosemary Mint Purifying Shampoo, I really enjoy the stimulation it gives my scalp. What's your take on this product?
NESS---> Yeah, I remember when I used to be obsessed with castile soap. Not so much anymore.
Lovely5000---> I've used a sample of that and REALLY liked it. I prefer purifying shampoos and although some don't like using them every wash, my hair loves them. And I love the mint in that Carol's Daughter shampoo. It feels divine on my scalp.
Yes! While I LOVE Dr. B's soap, it does not agree w/my hair. It feels weird afterwards so I had to stop using it. But, I still love it for showers, bathing and soothing my boys, cleaning the house and laundry. This post was too funny!
LOL, I know it! I use natures Gate shampoo...works FAB!
You got me side-eyeing my 2 bottles of Castile soap now! LOL! They are working fine for my tween locs for now but I wouldn't say I'm in love with it. I'm trying not to be a product junkie so I'm going to stick with it until they are done. Or I could just try them on my face/body. I do need a more moisturizing soap in these winter months though.
You r to cute!:) I have as well stop using these soaps all the time I change products with the climate. When I lived in London, cold dry and sometimes rain, snow, hail all within minutes of any given day. I had to use some of this and some of that:)But lately Carols Daughter and Cream of Nature has been working.
Peace&much luv
That's funny lol. I love that soap but I never thought of using it on my locks.
Thanks for this. I will definitely refer back to it when my locs tire of Dr. Bonner's castile soap and I need to try another cleansing product!
bye bye castile soap. i've been using other shampoos too but i keep coming back to castile (loose natural hair).
If you use the same shampoo or conditioner for too long, your hair gets too used to it, and won't have the same effect after awhile. It's always good to switch.
hahahhaaha OMG you are hilarious love this post! I too had to give my Dr. Bronner's castile a break but we're on a break up and get back together situation...yeah we're that couple LoL!
lol...loves it! i too am recently separated from my dr. bronners. i still love the smell and think it makes a helluva body wash :)
